Orange engine management light

Featured Replies

Hi again hope you guys can point me in the right direction. My orange engine management warning light came back on today (15-5-15) I've had it serviced and the lambda sensor changed. Had something else changed a while ago but the light also came back on. Will have to take it back to the garage to get it scanned again to see what error code comes up. Hope you folks can advise, cheers

Let us know what codes you get, can also check them on Ross tech website. Any symptoms or just the light? Why was lambda changed?

Sometimes it's a bit funny as you accelerate hard, more noticible in 3rd and 4rth other than that cars fine

Have you had the coil packs done under recall? If you don't know phone the dealer and get them done. Try a short run with MAF unplugged, if it runs fine it's the sensor. Could also be temp sensor, could be lots of things. Try get a scan and get coils sorted.

Didn't know there was a recall on them but cheers for that will give them a buzz

No problem, if they're the original ones they renew them, worth doing and ruling it out for free. You could pop one out and check the number, can't remember recalled number (last initial) but there was a lot of chat on here about it. Hit Google with a search and you should find it.

Still got the standard cat? Mine's got a sports cat on and I've had the orange EML light ever since I've had it, will probably need to have it mapped out.

Not sure but probably will need it mapping g at some point if it's gonna turn light off.

Lambda and something else changed but the light still came on. Still not been to get it sorted yet but as starter motors gone I will try and get it sorted now so should have car back on friday

Just been shown the fault codes, 17544 (p1136)lean fuel trim bank. And 18010 (1602)power supply terminal voltage to low. Any ideas as what these could be? Is the first one clogged injectors? And is the second my alternator starting to break down or and battery on its way out? Hope you folks can help again, cheers fraser

The faults have been wiped for now and trying injector cleaner as my mate thinks that in injectors are clogged it may be running lean? But he did say it could come back on and he would have another look.i will get him to unplug maf sensor next time.

How much are maf sensors? And airflow meters? If they need replacing

Genuine MAF were an exchange item, not sure if they still are, when they were was about £80, probably a sniff more than that now. Let me know as I may need one!

Most common causes of the running lean code is split vacuum hoses under the inlet manifold and around that area.

Will sort them out also as they are tired lookin

Light came back on last week. And today it's got worse as engines running very rough and the orange warning light was flashing then went solid. No leaks and no temp rise. Am hoping it's a turbo pipe or vacume pipes but it may be a wee bit more serious

Turbo pipe would be rich running I think, as air metred by maf for mixture would be lost, but fuel would still be injected for that mix. Did cel flash as it misfired? Try another scan may show up a missing cylinder. Symptoms above sound like bad maf, coil pack or coolant temp sensor. Previous code also points to maf? Really need a smoke test to find a leak unless a glaring split is staring you in the face.

Phoned skoda and asked about the recall an coil packs. The girl did a check with my reg no. And I think she said I hadn't been crossed of the list or wasn't on the list. Which year was the recall and what model/models?

Did she book you in then? It's more about the part numbers of the coil packs, but I believe they were fitted to the mk1, mine us 03/04 and that qualified if that helps. She should have booked you in as it's a recall and applicable, they have a duty of care in those circumstances.

3coil packs done, something to do with certain part numbers. The warning light was turned off but has only lasted a week and is now back on. Should I change 4rth coil and replace battery's? Or wait to see what error codes come up?

Any ideas as im stumped? Battery, last coil pack, hoses, cat?
