Afternoon all, as of yesterday, my 54 plate vrs's fuel needle has started to fluctuate down and back up again. So the fuel low light beeps on and then turns off within seconds. If parked, slamming the doors seems to have an affect, but generally comes on and off while driving.

Has anyone else had this? What causes it? And was it a quick/easy fix? Did google, but only found the one tiny thread regarding a sensor under the back seats etc.

Any advice welcome. Cheers.

It will likely be the fuel sender sticking leading to incorrect readings, especially as you say slamming the doors seems to have an affect. You could check the wiring to see if there are any shorts to rule an electrical fault out before anything else though.  

 

Try running some of this through the fuel system to see if it frees it up. 

 

Failing that you'll have to google 'fabia vrs fuel sender' to see what comes up. Surely someone will have had a similar issue. 

Thanks matt. I'll look into the electrics first then, will order some of that diesel treatment. No harm in getting some of that I guess! If all that fails will concentrate on the sender. Cheers.

No worries, it's really good stuff and it will benefit other areas too. Hopefully it will solve your issue. 

mine starting doing this when i go round bends it goes down roughly half a tank beeps then back up also my speedo has stopped working but i believe its due to previous owner fitting a boost gauge (which he removed) and running the live from back of clocks, ive taken the clocks out and got a few burnt wires behind there lucky i got a spare loom though
