stutter under hard or light acceleration and engine light permanently on

Featured Replies

Dear good people my name is ben I am new to this forum/website. Firstly I am sorry if people feel this has already been answered but despite trawling through many threads and forums I can't quite find the answer. I have a vrs mk2 08 estate with 2.0tfsi engine. Have been experiencing some rough idling and a stutter feeling during hard acceleration as well as light. Engine light would flash then go out but now it's on permanently. The car still drives fine but I am concerned about this. Has anyone had this problem and know what's going on? If this has been answered then apologies again and please direct me to the correct thread or link.

I'd take a guess at a faulty coil pack or spark plug, but the best thing to do is get a VAG COM reading to see what that throws up.

Hi Ben,

Welcome to the forum.

As soon as the EML (Engine Management Light) illuminated a fault code will have been stored.

Skoda main dealers use a software system called VAS to read codes, but there is also a well respected version called VCDS used by a lot of independent garages from Ross-Tech.

There are a number of forum members that have also invested in the software and the cable used to connect it to the car. Most are willing to help fellow members out by reading the codes for them. Those members are listed here, check to see if there is someone near you who can help...

Once you have the codes you can reference them here to direct you towards what is causing the issue...

Good luck.

+1 FOR COIL PACK.
