Skoda fun relay 7

Featured Replies

Hi the 7th relay on my fun is clicking iv changed it for another one and it's still do the same. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks

When you say 7th relay, you mean relay R7 from the wiring diagrams? Meaning the 4th relay on top row from left to right?

Relays click. Nothing wrong with that. But from your very short message it is not clear when it is clicking and most importantly, why did you find that so wrong that you felt the need to replace it??

If you are asking about R7 indeed (X contact relief relay) then it is supposed to click when ignition key on. The relay disconnects the electrical circuits of all major electric loads to allow maximum current flow to starter for cranking the engine.

As a rule of thumb, the more info you provide, the better answers you get.

Sorry yes I mean r7 the x contact relay. I changed it because of the clicking sound as I have a mk2 caddy pick up and this doesn't do it. So I presumed somethin was wrong with the relay. It starts to click when the engine temp gets up to normal running temp. Thanks

OK, you're probably looking at an intermittent inside the relay box due to moisture that once leaked in or is still leaking in around the seal of the windscreen. It is a common failure for Felicia.

Check that first.

If you remove R7, you'll see 4 female pins arranged in a cross pattern. They are marked 85 (left), 86 (right), 87 (top), and 30 (bottom). We are only interested in the command side of the relay, which is pin 85 that gets +12V when key on, and pin 86 that goes to ignition switch pin 50 (yellow wires) then to starter solenoid.

According to description above, check if there is some corrosion or wire strands at starter solenoid connector (yellow wire) that could touch ground. Clean well.

Thanks for the help all sorted now it's was the yellow wire to the solenoid had a bad connection.

Right I have just fixed a similar problem with mine. Check the wires at the starter motor, one of the connections had corroded. This caused all sorts of grief radio and lights flashing on and off. Not sure if this is your problem but its a good place to start

At 3 days after he solved the problem:
