VRS cruise control retro-fitted - working but strange problem..

Featured Replies

I fitted cruise control yesterday to my 2002 VRs, all went according to plan until I went to use it.  It seems to work when I hold the RES button for a couple of seconds, then disengages when brake etc is pressed.  the set button doesn't seem to do anything..

Any ideas?

Faulty stalk maybe?

Stalk was bought a few years back for my brothers 1.8t Toledo.. Maybe.. No vag-com errors..

Is it not meant to disengage when the brake/acc etc is pressed?? If the set button aint working id be going back through all thw wiring you did to make sure you didnt manage to accidently cross something :)

Yeah I will do, it's just a pity 1/2 the car needs taken apart to do so!! tried it again this morning.. so a long press of the RES (top button) turns it on.. press it again increases speed, then using brake, accel or clutch stops it.. so it's working but just the buttons are behaving oddly.

Sounds normal. Does a long press of SET reduce the current cruise speed?

No, the set doesn't seem to be doing anything at all

I normally just press set for about 2seconds and hey presto. Mine was fitted at factory though
