1100rpm idle then drops to normal and noise

Featured Replies

Everytime I start my vrs it ticks over at 900rpm like normal for about 6 or 7 seconds then the revs climb to 1100/1200rpm and will stay like that until I've drove for about 5mins and don't know why?

Also When starting my vrs when cold it will whine from what I think might be the turbo but only makes a whine at about 1500rpm then goes, when warm it's doesn't whine apart from when coming down the revs just before it idles it makes what I can only describe as a meow noise, was goin try the Mr muscle clean see if that solves it? Or could it be a pump or boost leak?

Are there any codes on the ecu?

Nope all clear

Is your battery on the way out, just starting the car, needing charged and the alternator is just doing its job.

Load required on the battery, short trips, battery low.

I swear this is the second time I've said this to someone today but...

Alternator load sensor wire has snapped :D

If you time it, it will be exactly the same each time.

Where abouts is the load sensor wire mate

Have a search for it, people have posted pictures of it and the repair. It's just I front of the gearbox.

Mine was exactly the same, start the engine. Idle raised to about 900. Drove it or let it idle about a minute or two and it would drop to normal. Turn it off and straight back on and it would do the same.

Fixed the snapped wire and been fine since.
