Passenger lock.. please help!

Featured Replies

Hi guys/girls..

Just spent half a day changing the lock on my front passenger door after it deadlocked!!

Replaced with new original part.. Deadlocked straight away again!

I have been playing around with the old lock and as soon as i put power to it, it unlocked. Leading me to think its the power/wiring going to the lock and not the lock itself..

I can hear the new lock locking with the central locking like i could with the old but no noise when trying to unlock.

Any ideas of what need replacing now? Im out of ideas..

Cheers.

Dan.

Check the wiring is not snapped inside the rubber hose/grommet/hinge when the door is open. Quite common.

It works on rare occasions so no snapped wires.. Maybe just worn wire? Could that be the cause?

Which really points to broken wiring just making the odd contact when in the right position.

That's what happened to mine inside the rubber bellows at the door. The wire was completely snapped but still made a random intermittent connection when the ends touched together.

By the sounds of it @ least you were able to or already had your door open.

My front passenger door deadlocked and was stuck shut for about 2 months.

i had to TAXI the family all over the place.

Didn't even get tips! Ungrateful lot.

How did you get it to open again? My drivers door has deadlocked. Can hear the unit locking / unlocking with the remote & it will lock with the key in the barrel but when you pull the Handle at any time is as if it is deadlocked.

As inconvenient as it is when this happens on the passenger door, it's a whole lot more of a faff when its the door you have to get in through.
