HELP: Can't open driver's door from inside

Featured Replies

Short story

Tried to resolve sticking lock, rremoved interior and window carrier, failed to remove lock barrel, lock pop-up came off and didn't replace, now interior handle doesn't open door. Cable is fitted, and does pull but seems loose.

Help, where did I go wrong?

Long Story

I've recently been suffering from the phantom window opening and the car unlocking itself, so I took it upon myself to open up the door trim, remove the carrier and get some wd40 and grease on the lock mechanism. I'd already done it on the other 3 doors (to seal the rears and replace carrier on passenger) so felt confident.

Having taken several hours to do this I realised I couldn't get the lock barrell loose as I couldn't find a driver that would fit through to loosen the screw. so I had to make do with what I could get from the interior.

Then on refitting the carrier the lock pop-up came loose and I couldn't work oit how to refit but assumed it was purely an indicator.

Anyway, having got all carrier back in plave and the harness back in place the lock cable was fairly slack but stayed on the handle. However, when I finished reassembly the interior handle wouldn't open the door! So now I have to uunlock car, replace window fuse (still haven't fixed dodgy lock), drive, open window, open using exterior handle, close window, pull fuse, lock car. Great.

Solved it. Whilst cable was being attached to the handle mechanism, I wasn't putting the wire onto the holder immediately before it. Explains why it was slack.
