Gearbox Oil for Skoda Fabia Mk 1 - 1.9 sdi (2002)

Featured Replies

Hi u lot.

I am wanting to change the gearbox oil on my Fabia.  Skoda recommend G50 Synthetic Gear Oil Viscosity SAE 75W/90.

On ebay, I have seen Britoil (Euro Oils) 75W/90 Synthetic Gear Oil GL5 made by uklubricants.  Have tried to email them to see if this oil is suitable but there seems to be a problem with their email address.

Could anyone tell me if this oil would be ok.

Cheers.

Steve

Recent thread talks about the gear-box oil, and I have just changed mine last week-end.

Got my oil from local supplier 'OPIE OILS' who are oil specialists of all kinds cars & domestic.

OPIE OILS recommended 75W 80 as opposed to 75W 90, as the thicker oil could make gear change stiff..

3 litres of FUCHS fully synthetic 75W 80 API GL-5 for £27.00 including VAT.

Skoda wanted £29.00 per litre, so quite a saving.

There are two types of level & filler headed plugs, one being a hexagon, the other (see attachment) is mine, and requires tool (see attachment).
