Vrs abs 8/5 mph

Featured Replies

Hi I'm just wondering what would cause my vrs abs to come on when breaking down from 8mph to around 4 then starts working normally again? I've done bearing and tiring on the wheel , could it be my tyres? From 215/40/18 back 235/40/18 ? Causing this problem?

Any help is much apriciated as anyone come across this before?

You need to get a diagnostic to see what fault codes are logged in the ECU.

Done that was a abs sensor , so I replaced the sensor closed the air gap in the rings and the code has gone , but still doing the same thing

Generally, that's symptoms of a cracked abs ring.

Checked the ring and bearing

That gives 20mm difference in tread width. 40% of that is 8mm difference in sidewall height. So that is roughly the difference between a new tyre and a bald one. (this is not advocating running on bald tyres, just pointing out what it means in terms most people should understand).

Front rolling radius is 9*25.4 + 215*0.4; that's 227.1 + 86 for 313.1. 8/313.1 is 2.5% and your ABS should accommodate that difference in road speed (or else your TCS wouldn't do so either).
