Hello all,

30 years ago, after a few years riding motorbikes, I bought my first Skoda, an Estelle 105, and learnt to drive in it. A while later I sold it to my landlord and moved on to a 120. Sadly that proved horribly unreliable and I ended up parking it up and buying an Audi 80 which then led on to other Audis over almost 20 years. The last 5 years I have had an all British car fleet (the bikes have remained mostly Japanese although a Ducati crept in for a few years), but my MG ZT-T has just been replaced by a Mk2 Octavia 1.9 diesel estate with DSG so, after many years, I'm finally back in a Skoda again. A little nervous of the DSG going bang, but it's proving economical and my partner much prefers it to the ZT, which she never liked to drive, so that's a big bonus. The Octavia is a very different beast to the Estelle's, and although there are a few issues to sort out, hopefully I won't need to carry a toolbox at all times (which used to include a big hammer to use on the starter motor and a spare head gasket).
