Borrowed a VCDS cable off a friend (which now looks to be a clone) to enable dial staging, alarm bleep and single central locking.

I`Ive enabled all these but for some uknown reason lost the controls on the steering wheel. then the radio.

 

So i reset the ecu by disconecting the battery and shorting earth.

 

Just tried after 45 mins and the radios back  (still no steering controls).   Now engine turns over slow and won`t start :(

 

I know i shouldn`t have used a clone but I`ve brought 6 differnet elm adapters to use with carista and none worked. and i sucumed.

 

I`m in bits here please .......any ideas

What errors are registered in the ECU? You can check them with VCDS or with any android OBD app and the ELM327 adapter.

Where abouts are you?

Problem solved. note to self, when playing with carista and vcds make sure your battery dosn`t go flat cause it spooks the hell out of ya when it dosn`t start.

Put battery booster on it this morning. Away and away it goes.

 

Just lost the controls on the steering wheel at the moment.

 

good old numpty me  :p

 

Time to invest in proper cable me thinks to.
