Got it out by continually tightening the nut and pulling out the headless bolt.

Can someone give the engineering name and size.

Does anyone Know a local source in Luton , Bedfordhire. as I am carless now :(

 Also does anyone know where local who would part a front hub and carrier, and consequently press them back together with a bearing supplied.

Hi Ian,

The bolt specification is on the page you linked. If you find your local bolt or fastener specialist shop and ask them for an M10x1.25x64 high tensile bolt that will work fine - it doesn't have to be from a Skoda dealer. Try yellow pages.

I got my Skoda dealer to press out and replace the last wheel bearing that I changed, but again, pretty much any garage with a press will be able to do it for you.

Many thanks fruitbat, but I am clueless on "engineering terms" and 'M10x1.25x64'   is a term I didn't recognize. I am from the days of inches and fractions (Still got the spanners, only a few). .But I am now edecated .

 

And I now know that I need to ask for a ( 'M10x1.25x64'  high tensile).

That should have been m10x1.25x65 by the way - typing error on my part!

M10x1.25x65

put very simply, m10 means metric 10mm thread, 1.25 is the pitch ofvthe thread in mm, 65 is the length of the thread in mm.

normally a standard m10 bolt or nut would have a 1.5mm pitch, so this bolt you are looking for is a slightly specialised bolt because it has a non standard pitch, sonetimes just called 'metric fine'... in this case it doesnt actually matter what pitch you use so long as the nut has the same pitch as the bolt. It may prove easier to find an m10x1.5x65 high tensile bolt and nut from some hardware suppliers

edit: just for info, you will know it's a high tensile bolt by the markings on thevyead of the bolt, 8.8 is low tensile, 10.8 is high tensile.

Oh yeah, one other thing, don't reuse the driveshaft nut, fit a new one, they nearly always work loose when you reuse them.

The part number of the bolt is N10438601.

You referenced the part number of the nut instead.

 

Found a bolt shop in Luton Price 50P with locking nut, garage fitted bearing into hub for £25. after several quotes for £45 to £60.

Car now making loud knocking noise turning maybe lower ball joint, it's the next job.

But maybe upper strut bearing ..
