Road test

Featured Replies

Can anyone point me to a full road test on this new petrol model please?

I have a delivery date beginning Aug 2015

Which one, the 1.2 or 1.4?

Thanks. It is the L & K 1.4tsi [ listed very faint below the Road Test header ]

Not so hasty! I doubt there's a single L&K 1.4 TSI in the country yet. They only started to be built in week 22.

What kind of deal did you get?

I was hoping it appeared on some foreign car test web - but I can't find one.

Very bad deal from local dealer. Only 5.6% off for cash and £500 free petrol. There was a part ex. involved [ Octavia Scout 1.8tsi on a 09 plate, 84k mls £3.8k allowed ]

For reasons too involved to list here I was in a rush. Wish now I had walked away. The Scout was purchased via Skodastore and that worked out fine at 12.5% off.[The best car I have ever owned or driven, but now no petrol option ]

Had originally decided on the Golf 7 Alltrack 1.8tsi [ love that engine] but again no petrol option coming to the UK.

I also doubt you will get a run in an L&K either. Dealers tend to have the lower grade models as testers. My local dealer would not let me look inside the L&K they had in stock ready for the customer to collect.

If you wish now you'd walked away, you should still be able to. Cooling off period?

Might be worth talking to Skodastore - they should be be able to come in at least -12% again.

The contract has been re-visited and a total discount of 10% agreed. I can live with that.

Out of interest I had checked the position regarding a 'cooling off period'.

According to the Citizens Advice web the purchaser does not get such a Statutory Right if you sign a contract on the dealers premises.

However if you purchase via the web, you do. Yet another reason for a web purchase, and a nail in the coffin for local car dealers if they do not introduce such a clause into their standard contract.

When I have time I may lobby my MP about that anomaly ha ha.
