Oil and filters

Featured Replies

What does Skoda's VW 507 spec oil come branded as? (I bet its really Castrol)

and has anyone a part number for my oil filter?

It comes branded as what ever the people producing it and selling it call it,

& all VW 507 00 is not Castrol or Quantum so as well you never bet your car on it being so.

Mahle fllters should be ok

No it does not come in Skoda Bottles you are right.

They will sell you Castrol or Quantum or use Quantum in the workshop.

?

Are you changing the filter yourself and not having it done for you by someone that maybe gets the correct ones at trade price.?

I shall source my oil, then I know whats gone in, i shall supply a workshop who will invoice labour only with an itemised invoice and i shalll keep all invoices for parts, and stamp the book.

I was a workshop storeman and know the discounts to the trade, i also know they dont get passed on!

When I had a brand new Citroen van the place to avoid for services was Citroen....£187 for oil and a filter...

So I then had it done at a proper HGV workshop and Citroen only saw it for warranty work.....monthly

You need to check if not using a Skoda Dealership that there are no Service Campaigns requiring Field Actions, and updates, enhancements

or software updates.

There are plenty of Independents about that have bought the Licensed Software for their equipment that means they can do Warranty Work and Updates.

I shall use Castrol Edge to VW 507 and buy filters from Skoda (or VW at a pinch, nearer)
