Used Superb price on the rise?

Featured Replies

I have been looking to pick up a 1 to 2 year old Superb L&K 4x4  for a while. I was not in a hurry and thought I will watch the market. Even though there are enough on offer I cannot help thinking that the price is going up from £22000 to £26000.

This does not only affect the L&K but also the Elegance models.

This easily brings me back into Volvo XC70 price ranges. My father-in-law has just bought himself a 6 month old Jaguar XF for this sort of money. A Jaguar XF plays in a slightly different league to the Superb even in L&K guise. Is this price rise a normal summer occurrence for Superbs or is this just a final blip before the new model arrives?

get down to the dealers you can get a new one for around 26K while they have stocks left at the dock. £4000 of list price

'Asking Prices' are the dream and wish of the seller.

If the cars are selling at higher prices that is the deal, if they are still advertised with nobody paying the high advertised price they are

unsold cars with too high a selling price.

Some will do a better deal that that, but I'd still plump for a 12m old unit.... There is a 2014 L&K with 7k miles at Ridgeway Newbury for 21k. They'll probably go less than 19.5k for cash?

The UK market seems a little fickle on superb estates at the moment.

Oversupply (in a good way) means diesel Superbs (both engines) are down on what they were a few months ago as the new model hype, and discounts on new model2 Superbs, kicks in for the summer.

Small petrol engines Superb estates seem to be holding up well - less around and lovely engines.

The 3 6 petrol estates are seeing a rise, not only due to rarity in the market, but probably because it's the last of the line and the new model range has no V6 in it. But how long that will last who knows....but I can see the draw of the Porsche engined estate Skoda (I know...just stretching the engine gene pool a bit...) ;):D

I do tend to keep an eye on Autotrader and whilst the cars I tend to look at (MkII Octavia & Superb) have crept up a little in recent years this to me is just the normal upward trend of most things.

I bought my used low mileage two year old mid-spec diesel Superb for £12,000 a little over two years ago.

If I wanted to do the same again today then there are cars out there advertised for close to £13,000, before negotiations, so my particular car doesn't seem to have moved much in recent years.

I bought my 2011 1.6 tdi se plus 130k from a car pitch £5500 ok it need approx £300 for a clutch & spare key,but not a bad price for a one former owner ex lease car.

Petrols are cheap now, poor bloke who had sold his 1.8 on the other thread. People want low running costs and so the demand is there for diesel, should push up the used prices nicely. Especially 170 DSGs

If you don't need the extra space of an estate, I'm selling a 3yo twindoor elegance 4x4 for around £10k less than those prices!! Still has 9 months warranty on it too...

Mugs buying oil burners to do 60mpg when they only do 5000 miles a year and petrol is cheaper to buy and cheaper to fix.....and wait till the EU and HMG force diesels off the road.................

Is this happening any time soon, considering the 2nd biggest vehicle manufacturer have a German Parent Company and that

Germany holds the purse of the EU?

Are they forcing all Dirty Diesels off the roads, or just private passenger vehicles entering cities.

Hopefully a UK Derv burner scrappage scheme coming soon,

but that is unlikely to include Euro 4 / 5 Engine vehicles.

Turbo petrols still go wrong and especially VAG, they love oil.

The average miles in the UK is 8 to 10k per annum, I struggle to see where you plucked 5k from? Granted diesels are cost effective post 14k per annum.

The EU will not touch diesels under 10 years. We ll be fine for many years yet

If you have lots of travelling sales people and business / fleet users on variable servicing and doing 20,000-30,000 plus miles a year

then you need plenty doing 4,000 - 5,000 miles to get an average of 8,000 - 10,000,  its how averages work.

That is the high mileage cars getting auctioned ever 2 to 3 years and going into trade that then low mileage buyers of used cars get as a bargain.
