Do i need to change my wheel bolts for alloy wheels?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have just bought some octavia vrs wheels for my skoda fabia that was originally on steel wheels, will i need different wheel bolts? If so where is the cheapest and best place to buy them from?

Thank you for your time,

Skarty

I don't think you need different bolts. I'm using the same ones with both, alloys (VW Avus II) and steel wheels. I think you need different ones when you are fitting aftermarket wheels.

I would say no, as different bolts are not required to change from alloys to the steel spare :)

nope

its worth sticking some anti seizure grease where it connects with the hub as alloys are a t**t to get off after a while.....its the last thing you need on the side of a motorway....I got caught out and literally had to hammer the wheel off.

No idea. Because I don't know which shape bolt lands Furbie steelies use or how long they are.

I do know that VAG alloys use 45degree lands though, so if you have 45degree lands rather than 30degree or flat ones then you can use the same bolts as long as the threads will go right through the hubs.

According to partscats, the part number (WHT001812) for the wheel bolts is identical for both steel and alloy wheels.
