Aftermarket fog lights as oem

Featured Replies

I have no fog lights on my car but have seen a set I would Like fitted as part of my new project which is updating the front end of of the car. I am presuming I will need a new headlamp switch and loom but am I likely to be able to get none oem halogens to act as factory would. I know I can fit elegance fogs but I want something a little different. Any advice welcome as always.

I would have thought that if you have everything OE (wiring, switch, any required controller / interface box, coding etc) up to the point where you get two wires to each bulb, then just splice in the new bulb holder wiring at that point, it should behave as OE.  Make sure the bulb power draw is the same as the OE bulbs, or at least make sure whatever you fit is CANBUS-friendly if it's something exotic like HIDs, LEDs, or Stilton-powered cheese lights.

You may have to study the OE wiring carefully to make sure there's not some little trick that you might miss, that stops them working properly.

I think I will likely need to upgrade the cecm, light switch, make up or purchase a loom and then vcds program. Not sure if I will need a relay yet. Just reading about what is required on golf forums.
