Stream MP3 Bluetooth Unit - Xcarlink / Connects2 / Dension

Featured Replies

This is my first post so hello! Tomorrow I pick up my 2008 Octavia VRS Estate - I can't wait! :) I have had a search around the forum but can't find the answer, although there seem to be a lot of similar queries.

The one thing it is missing on the car is any Bluetooth connectivity - it has a Stream MP3 with an Aux by the armrest and a changer in the boot.

I want a handsfree kit and to be able to stream music over it.

In my GFs Audi TT I fitted a Dension Gateway BT Lite - which works fantastically BUT doesn't have a CD changer. I want to keep my CD changer and have the BT.

Is this possible with any of the kits? Dension sell a cable but it doesn't say it's compatible, Xcarlink say theirs does keep the changer but the only info I can find it about how bad the Xcarlink is and Connects2 doesn't mention it?

Would really appreciate any info to help me with what to buy.

Don't have Maxidot or steering wheel controls so realise that I won't get any track info shown and only minimal control - which is fine.

Thanks a lot

Phil :)

PS - Did I imagine it or does the Stream HU show basic info about doors open and A/C controls or did I dream it?! Does it do anything else fancy - I assume not?

I've just come across this - sorry didn't reply sooner, hadn't got notifications switched on.

I ended up going for a Kinivo BTC450 and permanently installing it. Ran another feed from the cigarette lighter to a new socket via a relay controlled by the 12v out from the headunit. Also added a second one for a charger as the USB output on the Kinivo isn't powerful enough to keep up with sat nav & bt streaming. Fed the cable along under the jumbo box and drilled a small hole with a grommet to get the plug into the aux socket.

Hid all that behind the dash so all you see is a short charging cable for phone and the Kinivo button.

Switch on stereo, triggers the relay and bt connects. Works very well, is neat and cost about £35 :)
