Where is it?

It's crowded down there, for sure!

I've located the most - except what I was looking for. At the moment I cannot level the car from the ground and neither are my arms long enough for pressing the button while looking under the hood. :swear:

So, where is, the horn? I'd suspected it to be somewhere behind the grill and be looking lige a horn..

Don't use it much but when I very much like to be heard so a bit of punch has to be installed.

Below the battery in the area where the Steering Fluid Container is.

Maybe accessed from the front lower grill, remove, or what ever, or wheel arch liner needs removed.

Probably behind one of the foglights like the mk2,not had a chance to look yet but the horn is pathetic.

Have to agree. The horn is possibly the wimpiest I have ever heard in over 35 years of driving. It's embarrasing when I have to use it.

How often do you have to use it,?

i check them before a MOT and that is about it.

Are you listening to the horn just from the drivers seat ?

Maybe get someone in the car go a few meters away and get them to sound the horn,

or drive past you while you are safely on the pavement and get them to sound the horn, see how they sound to those

you might need to sound a horn to.

My life as a motorcyclist learned me some lessons of the importance of being seen and heard...

As said, not often. Maybe monthly. But when, its mostly for arousing a fellow motorist who has fallen into a trance over his fancy cellphone when either driving or waiting for the green light, second round, probably texting or having a most important conversation with his spouse or cat. That fellow motorist is also sitting inside a car, so listening to your own horn from inside the cabin seems to be an appropriate place to form an opinion of the volume of the horn. ;)

Im quite sure the horn isnt placed behind the fog light as the mk 2 ( - on which I mounted a substantial Stebel horn :) ) , under the battery seems reasonably, thank you.

Behind the Fog light is the same as under the battery or there about is it not, just as with a Mk2.

Just how far behind the Fog light is the question.

Let us know thanks.

Far, Im afraid. I will. :)

And just to let you know, i lost my leg on a motor bike, so know about see and be seen,

i still couldn't be bothered upgrading a cars horn. if it works and you hold it on, they hear you.

If you pap pap it probably not.

The horn is a pretty vital component! I am still a motorcyclist (for commuting) but have the new Fabia for everything else. But being a biker is no different, everyone needs to know when and why to use horn, main beam etc. Living in a rural location you have to use the horn in certain situations (eg. blind corners, brow of hills) especially on tiny country roads. I haven't tested the Fabia's horn yet - only picked up the car a few days ago. Saving that for when I'm really bored and fancy a laugh ;) but if it is really pathetic then I will consider a better after-market solution, as it will need to be heard by road users possibly 50 or 100 meters away and out of sight...

Maybe get one like this.. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/RYN8F4D_lUo/maxresdefault.jpg

Very odd, maybe my deafness is greater than i thought,

but having lived in Rural Locations for 5 decades, walking, cycling and driving i never have heard

anyone sounding a horn on blind corners, brows of hills. hump back bridges or the likes.

I hear them only really sounded outside buildings to let someone know their transport has arrived,

when someone is slow away from a junction,

and when the Fish or Mobile Shop arrives, sometimes Mobile Libraries or Banks.

I've seen / heard it done in 2 rural locations, a blind bend on a narrow road near my folks, and a blind hump canal bridge near my inlaws

I don't do it, but I know people who do ;)

trouble is, it seems it is usually done as an excuse to warn the "other side" that you are coming through at a rapid place, and likely unwilling to stop.

If a bend is blind as in you can not see what is around it, then lets hope it is not horse riders when someone sounds the horn.

Same as over the Hump Back bridge.

There are some crackers i go over and you really do have no idea until up top if something is at the other side,

also some roads going under railway bridges then very sharp turns.

One of my favourites. On one of Scotlands best Driving Roads.

Another at the Spittal Glenshee on the A93

Ive heard it done before, but i dont do it myself.

Reason being, i dont think 90% of drivers would even click why youre beeping.

Alot of em dont understand the really simple things in motoring, so them understanding that is wishful thinking imo.

Btw, OP, what engine is that? Looks crammed in, 1.6 tdi?

It's the tsi engine :)

It's the tsi engine :)

Ooh cool

Just looked abit of a tight fit!

Maybe cos im used to seeing the little HTP in my mk2 ;)
