The initial tightness of the engine has now gone and fuel consumption is, for me, about 35 to 40 mpg around town. I did get a spare steel rimmed wheel factory fitted to replace the gunge machine so the extra weight will affect mpg

Have got my old phone to link with blue tooth for music and hands free phone. The one snag with the music via the phone I get lots of incoming pings so I usually use the SD card. For me the sound quality is brilliant but then I am a 60's and trad jazz music man.

Took a couple of weeks to find a happy seat/steering wheel position but I find when breaking the edge of my right foot sometimes catches the accelerater pedal and the seats which were initially quite hard have now softened to my sylph like body, I wish

Gearchange is OK though sometimes feels a bit notchi and the clutch take up is fairly high. To keep the mpg up the car will run at 30mph in 4^th gear and you can get away with going from 2^nd to 4^th depending on traffic conditions.

Have only done one 60 mile journey and got around the 50mpg using the cruise control helps

I was pleased to find how much stuff you can get in the boot even with the seats up and with the seats down have managed to take a fair bit of stuff to the tip. The one downside is, as far as I can tell, you cant lift the seat up to drop the back level like you can in the estate.

You can definitely feel the difference in the new body dimensions and there is more room between the passengers especially in the front seats though not a great fan of the central arm rest as it gets in the way of the handbrake will probably use it on longer motorway runs.

Took a little getting used to the rear view mirror, its not as wide as in some cars, as long as you tilt it to see the top edge of the rear window you get quite a good view the big plus for me is it darkens when you loose daylight and kills the lights of the idiots who run around on main beam all the time. The wing mirrors give a good view but are quite stiff when you fold them in and don't go as far in as I thought they would.

On the whole happy with the car and if it lasts as long as my Fabia estate Mk1 1.9 diesel elegance 2005, which I have passed it on to my daughter, with 100k on the clock I will be happy.

Good review Joe pretty consistent with my views on my car,especially the comment regarding the clutch travel,biting point is high up on my pedal too,I am very happy with my 1.2 tsi
