Out for a play earlier

Featured Replies

Hi to all

I just got back in from having a play in my old V6 Omega. The poor beast has not been out since I got the Fabia vRS 2 1/2 weeks ago, so I thought it only fair. Heres the odd thing, the Omega does not feel as quick as the Fabia, however, on one of my local slip roads (on a private test track), I gave the Fabia everything it had ealier on today to see about 80mph at the point where the slip ends. Tried the same in the Omega tonight and saw just under 100 to the same point. Stange how the perception of speed is so deceptive. On the twisties, the Omeag is no slouch, but I reckon the Fabia would leave it pretty easily.

On the plus side, tyre noise apart, there is not as much difference in terms of noise as one would expect when cruising at dual carriageway speeds (beteen Fabia and Omega). The Fabia is a whole league abouve other superminis when it comes to NVH.

Also forgot how much fun rear wheel drive and wet roads can be :D

So in two weeks, I have to make a 350 mile round trip. Which car to take?

Chris

Hmm, if you're paying for fuel and like me, feel stingy (sp?), I'd go for the fabia. I gather the Omega is more comfortable though and more of an "armchair" position for lazy driving. Depends if you want the torquey fun and economy of the furby or the RWD silliness of a V6 :D
