Retrofitting MIB II Amundsen (6.5")

Featured Replies

I've got a FL yeti with the old style Amundsen, quite like the look of the new unit especially its features.

Anyone know of part numbers or even if its possible?

It will probably be possible and even though I have it and think the bits that do work are great I'd wait until Skoda get the software sorted out, there are too many bits that don't work properly at the moment and the right hand techs at Skoda don't seem to know what the left hand is doing.

i suspect it will be a while until they even become available to buy. I'm hoping its plug and play (maybe some VCDS)

It has no CD slot. Call me a dinosaur but that's enough to make me glad I have the Amundsen+.

In four years of driving my yeti I've used the CD player on fewer than four occasions. It has six CD slots, 5 of them remain unused

People initially complained when they removed the cassette deck too :)

You mean iPod dock surely? :)

I initially was not happy but now could not be more so.

Copying albums to an SD card is fast and a piece of cake, I now have 80+ albums on the SD card and it's easy to chose as all Album art and tracks are displayed making it simple to chose what album to play.

Before I had no more than 6 CDs to chose from rattling around in the glove box.

exactly!

Simply Clever

I have about 1200 albums on my iPhone.

I have another 600 albums on CD.

I don't really want to sit there digitizing them all when a) I already have them on CD and B) I have very little room on the iPhone for more music anyway.

And for those interested, I have another 200+ albums on tape cassette also. I use a Walkman and a 3.5mm jack lead to play them in the car from time to time.

Though they do sound a bit crap compared with other formats.

Look if you don't use or like CDs, then good luck to you.

I would personally find it a chore to live without one - I'm sure the day will come (not long now) when I'll be forced to go completely digital.

That'll be a relief!  :notme:
