Stealth Ice-upgrade

Featured Replies

I'm going to get a new HU and the less there is to encourage some thieving Bar-Steward to smash my windows the better.

I was speaking to an ICE installer and I suggested keeping the Symphony HU in place and fitting a new HU in the space below with a removable blank face to stick in front of it.

Good idea n'est pas?

Anyone beaten me to this idea?

Rip out the Skoda Sympathy and fit something with a removable face-plate. Job Done ;)

Removable face plate stereo's still get nicked though.

The thief getting a lump of metal and plastic that is useless to them is all well and good, but I dont want them to smash the window in the first place.

Just leave the symphony in then, no self-respecting scumbag will touch it :D

My first plan was to heep the HU and add amp + speakers but there comments on here helped me decide to change it.

I also thought of leaving the original in place but the new one would have been to low and the gearstick would have got in the way inserting cds.

I now have a removable-front Pioneer and could put the original in the lower slot - but it would look silly.

If you're really concerned that's not a bad idea Jono.

The front comes off my Blaupunkt but there is always the chance somebody will have a go just to see if you've put it in the glovebox. Lets face it, it happens.
