Multifunction mono network laser printer wanted

Featured Replies

I'm after adding a new printer to the network and wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

It would only be for light use but would prefer AirPrint to be a feature if possible.

Doesn't really matter which brand. Just check out the cost of toners before you buy.

Lasers tend to be pretty robust. You're a light user so no point considering business printers etc.

I've a rather ancient Samsung which will outlast driver availability. I think Win10 will kill it before anything else does.

Cheap printer = expensive toner

Expensive printer = cheap(er) toner

Dont just look at the cost though, look at the page yield; most of the cheaper toners now only offer 1,000 pages (for up to £60!!!); go up to a couple of hundred and the yield is about 3-5,000 pages and the cost per toner is also much lower.

At the very cheap end, a toner often costs more than the printer, and cheap generic refills are a thing of the past thanks to Epson's legal case in the European court a few years ago.

Well, after much perusing late into the night - instead of being in bed early due to Rockingham, I came across a brand new, end of line (I think) Ricoh printer which just begged me to hit the buy button. No Airprint sadly but uber spec on the other options. Toner pricing not too bad either.

Ricoh ain't bad at all.

Ricoh have some great products, Xerox are effectively not concentrating on equipment now as the money is in managed print services. Ricoh and Canon have the market share.
