1.2 tsi

Featured Replies

Well im not sure if i mentioned but i recently bought my wife a roomster black edition. It comes with a good spec and the 1.2tsi 105 in it. Anyway i left the vrs in the garage and took the roomy on the school run.

I was expecting it to feel flat and gutless but im really really impressed with it.

Its a cracking little engine with just enough torque to keep a smile going. Its only done 250 miles so still taking things easy but its averaging 40mpg on the school run.

Well impressed.

105 ps is quite a good power output on not very heavy cars and has always got them around in a sprightly manner.

86 ps is no slouch either when just doing NSL runs and not too heavily loaded.

its a good engine, we have had a few attend our meets, and at road speeds keep up with the vRS crowd without issues :)

What year is it?

Yep, I have this in mine and its a sweet little engine! I came from a Mk 5 Golf GTI with a 2.0 turbo and thought a 1.2 would be awfully puny but have been pleasantly surprised!

Apparently they give a little more like 120hp but that might be internet folklore

Heres a pic of the Skoda siblings

With only 1150KG to pull around it is very nippy. I really enjoy driving my wives 105 Estate. It really enjoys being revved as well which is nice and rewarding. First can be a littl frustrating as it feels limited. Very nice engine alround

I sold me mk2 vrs 1 week ago for a 1.2tsi monte

In everyday driving the monte feels more than adequate - the vrs tended to change up a little early

On the flip side the monte seems no better at all on fuel than the vrs - nothing official there, just the fuel gauge seems to go down just as quick

That probably says more about how good the vrs could be on fuel considering it's potential tho

The DSG in the vRS was changing up to achieve the economy that can be available, so as the engineers designed it to behave.
