Superb electric mirrors.

Featured Replies

I have a Superb Elegance with the folding mirrors. I have a couple of things I want to know about them. Firstly, when I put the car into reverse, after doing everything it says in the manual, the mirrors should alter there angle for a better rear view. This happens only on the passenger side and only when the mirror switch is in the left position. The drivers mirror doesn't move. Is this correct? The other thing was something I had read on here about the mirrors folding away when you use the window/sunroof closing facility whilst locking the door. The roof and windows do their thing but not the mirrors. Am I doing something wrong?

First item - yes it is only the left (nearside) that does this and is only meant to be. The handbook mentions this but gets it wrong by saying its the right hand side, because it is written for a LHD car.

Second point - as far as I know the mirrors do not fold in with the remote - mine don't. AFAIK you need to fit a 3rd party aftermarket control for that to happen.

That has cleared it up for me, thanks, I was thinking I was going to be having some warranty work done there!

Is this facility only on the Elegance?

The folding in bit only comes with the Elegance. Its part of the memory system that ties in with the electric seat IRC.

The nearide one dipping so that you can see the kerb when in reverse I am not sure - think it is on all of them but could be wrong.

You will need to buy an AutoWindow Reflex for that - I got mine from the Awesome GTI Store
