Speccing up

Featured Replies

Hi, im just in the process of deciding on spec of my new octavia.

I currently have the mk 2 elegance 1.6 cr

Im looking at getting the new 2.0 diesel in race blue elegance.

Ive already decided on the dark windows and silver roof rails.

I am wanting to be able to control my iphone/ipad using the touch screen, the sales person has stated this works as standard on the SE L (elegance). Is he correct? Or do i need the smartgate/smart link?

What exactly do each of these offer?

Any help would be great. Any other extras people have found useful?

Cheers

Add a spare wheel

Yeah, shame I cant get a full size spare for this one

Smart link should we worthwhile.

I'd personally go for heated seats and screen for winter. Also fills out some of the blank switches.

If your budget allows I would go for Bi-xenons with AFS.

As a 'nice to have' Canton is good as the stock unit (Amundsen) which I have is not very good.

And definitely a spare as JamesVRSmk3 suggested (it is £140 to buy retrospectively, more if you go for a VRS).

A fellow Cork man

If you are getting the 150 Tdi, you can opt for 16" wheels.

This will allow you to get a full size spare.

VED is also reduced from £30 to £20.

You will get the same (lighter than normal) alloys as fitted to the Greenline, but with normal tyres.

This will also save you money when you buy replacement tyres.

Agree with others on heated screen / seats / washers... (Winter pack)

Bi-xenons, have these on the Yeti, just had to have them on our SE L Octavia ordered earlier this month.

I have this very model, although in Laser white.

I agree with the above a spare is a must, if you don't have one you will need one but then if you do spec it you may never need it.

When choosing my options I went for the spare, bi-xenon headlights, LED rear lights, flat bottom MFSW and the power boot. I would say you could live without many of the nice to haves but the lights are well worth it if your budget allows.

As for the heated seats they were on my wish list after having them in my previous car but after the test drive realised that the Alcantara and leather look vinyl doesn't get to cold, my old car had black leather seats which definately needed it.

The power boot now it works both ways from the internal button and the keyfob is something that needed upgrading with some VCDS magic but is something I would spec again if I were to get another model.

We have heated seats in the citigo too, that has fabric seats.

On cold winter days (and when I have lower back pain) I still love that warm feeling you get...

Years ago I was totally against the idea of heated seats, oh how things change!!!

Thats all really helpfull. Thank you.

I have opted for the winter pack as i do lots of early starts and waiting for the window to defrost/demist is a pain.

I would love the xenon lights but it would pull it out of my budget
