Fabia PD100 Performance upgrades

Featured Replies

Before someone nips in with "try the search" already had a bash on that couldn't really find anything.

Basically what im wanting to know is, is the list below on the right track for boosting the performance on my PD100 or have i just been misreading stuff on the interwebs again. and also the difficulty of fittings the parts are they bolt off bolt on as im no mechanic but my brother is

Remap

PD160 intake

VRS PD130 Turbo

VRS PD130 injectors

what kinda power figures am i looking at with these bits put in place?

any other parts off the VRS il have to swap over to make them work on my PD100?

Also if anyone has other suggestions they'd be greatly appreciated as im new to modding the fabia and want to make a bit of a beast out of it

no sarcy comments saying  "buy a VRS" my insurance wouldnt touch me :D

I'd say the same as a remapped vRS lol. Could also swapto the 6 speed gearbox. Have a look at devonuptias thread, it started out as a pd100.

You will need the correct pipe to fit on to the 130 turbo from the intercooler. As these are different.

You will also need a 3 bar map sensor from a VRS (make sure you get one that's the correct diameter for your intercooler) there are two types, big or small.

I wouldn't waste your money with a 160 intake, because that's all it will be, a waste, especially only with the turbo that you're putting on. spend the money on a 130 intake manifold and all the turbo pipe work for a 130 including MAF and intercooler.

They're not required, but will help a great deal more than a silly intake Pipe.

Think il boycott the intake pipe and make my own as I work at a ducting shop anyway :D

Pd130 intake manifold and look at getting the correct pipe to run from my inter cooler to 130 turbo willbe in my list now I'm guessing that pipe is called a turbo intake pipe?

Will the vrs intake manifold still fit mine as it's an 02 plate elegance 1.9tdi??

I got intake manifold, metal turbo pipe off turbo, airbox, 3 bar map sensor and pipe work, gearbox and 6 speed cables pm me

Cheers

No the turbo intake pipe connects straight from the MAF to the turbo with a joining pipe.

I'd recommend getting a 130 one of these as its significantly larger, but you will need the 130 MAF and the pipe that joins the two together.

As for joining your 100 intercooler to the 130 turbo all you need is a 130 90 degree bend and cut one of the couplers off so it will fit to the 100 pipe work and the turbo :)

I forgot, if you're also going to fit the 130 intake manifold you will need either a 130 EGR or a 130 EGR delete kit, as they're different to the 100.

Apart from Injectors, what if any are the other differences internally between the PD100 engine and PD130.

I don't mean the other bolt on bits, just any differences between Heads/block/pistons/CR etc?

It's my understanding that

The only thing the same in all PD engines is the head, camshaft, valves, headgasket and piston rings. The rest of the internals are different.

I got metal turbo pipe from turbo towards airflow meter and a 130 egr pm me

As car modding is never ending.

I chose to just get my pd100 remapped then spent bit extra on better brakes.

Result is standard vrs look twice in there mirrors and wave as i past them.

Just be careful on the modding side as all mods should be declared to your insurance company and if not will void your insurance. Stating I didn't know will not work as well, heard some right horror stories on unknown CAT D cars let alone mods not reported. I'd stick to the remap and better brakes then go from their if you want to. Else you could do a Devonutopia and change almost everything.... will cost a pretty penny eventually. :) Just the remap could up it by 30% power output which is what most insurers will ask.. how much extra power is involved.

Always upgrade brakes.

It just so happens I have some vRS from calipers with discs and odd here lol.

Unless your aiming for a project car, personally, I'd just sell it and buy a vRS. Your insurance will likely be MORE on a fairly modified PD100 than a standard vRS I reckon!

If you keep it I wouldn't go for any more than a remap and handling mods, it's just not worth it for the power your going to get at the end. That's why I've held off modding my vRS because they just cost so much to get usable power out of. Yes you can get them to 200bhp and beyond but they need a hell of a lot of supporting mods to actually be able to put the power down and use it effectively! - Just my 2p and others may disagree but they can become a money pit when you get the modifying bug lol.

Ignore the buzz kills, get modding. :)

Well by the time youve spent hundreds on mods to make that figure. You'd been better off just getting a vrs and remap it lol.

I guess thats less fun tho

I would get a vrs but picked this one up for £500 and looking a vrs would set me back at least double that
