CD player

Featured Replies

New fabia ordered 10/6/15 - awaiting delivery (yawn)

Now, don't judge me but I want a cd player in my car. Find it a bit strange that the new Fabia doesn't have one (as with many new cars) . I realise that's the way things are going, but they're not totally obsolete yet!

I've always had one and I have thousands of albums - I am in the process of digitalising it all but will take me yonks. Until then, what's the best way to hook up a CD player? just through Aux in I am guessing or USB?

The lead time on my car is 8-13 weeks apparently. I take it this is just a "guide" and could be a lot more? what's the usual process from shaking the dealers hand to actually getting your car? #

Cycling to work in the rain will bore me at some point.

Cheers

CD's are the best! id give anything for the fabia to have a 6cd bootchanger lol

My CDs are all stored away in the loft as there are far better ways to play digital music these days. FLAC at home, MP3 in the car.

CD players are being dropped across the range....as I've just found out on my Octavia mk3 on order.

Not overly happy but nout can be done about it.

I did some market research for a new car not long ago and a focus group, one of the questions was about whether and how often the CD was used,

so you can see where manufacturers are looking to save cost OR modernise media systems in cars

so many people have music on their phone or MP3 player or able to dump it on an SD card, so CD's now appear to be viewed as "old Tech" a bit like 8 tracks (if you can remember them in the 70's) being replaced with cassettes being replaced with CD's etc

the old march of progress and tech

They 'Skoda' can lose the Oldie Market very easily with thoughts of 'Modern' 'Crisp' 'Connectivity' 'Young' 'Emotional' 'Squat' etc etc

Their idea of Connectivity has proved to be well out of date and not fit for purpose.

They are not thinking very 'Simply Clever'.

Get Young People to help them build cars for Young people,

and for those that want to buy a Car for Transport and they might not be Young or even Middle Aged, ask people,

and if you ask on 'Social Media' you only get replies from people that use 'Social Media'.

Maybe not CD users.

Maybe not even people that use Mobile Phones just to make Phone Calls when not driving.

it was quite interesting the car I did the research and focus group about we all thought it was aimed at the younger end of the range, but the panel I was on the youngest person was early 40's and the response to a CD player was a no all round

but I can also see how you can come up with bland cars and all looking similar after being involved it the process
