New Rallye Green Owner

Featured Replies

Hello skodarites,

I've not really been that interested in motors and always bought budget and ran them into the ground before buying again but recently something changed - it's called a crisis as you head towards your 50s I think. I got increasingly fed up with repair costs so a few years back got a 9 month old Fabia SE plus which the wife pretty much chose. Anyway, I vowed to renew every few years to avoid the pain of repair costs so.....this year something seemed to click and, suckered by the adverts and reviews somewhat, promised myself to try the vRS. Wife makes quite a few short journeys so petrol was the only option, went and had a drive in the manual - wife liked it so then seeing as the dealer had a DSG in, which I'd not really considered, took that out as well. Loved it.

Couldn't really stretch to a new one, the dealer found one still not released for resale. 3 months old, Rallye Green with an Amundsen and parking assist, offered for £21.5K. The colour was a real discussion point but eventually, after years of driving cappuccino grey and the sort, thought why not. In 10 years time, I'd look a right **** in one but for now, maybe I can just about get away with it! I really wanted the built in sat nav as well so it sold itself to me.

It would have been the perfect dream if only...the wife went to meet friends for dinner just after we agreed to buy it and what car did she see parked outside - I thought I was going to be the only Rallye green in the village (city). Gutted.

Anyway, deposit paid, take a final look at it next week and by next sunny weekend I'll be sporting some fancy new green shades, arm hanging out the window, tunes banging. OK, maybe just a drive out to the country with the kids for a picnic. Excited!
