MY16 insurance issues

Featured Replies

Has anyone managed to get their MY16 car insured as yet. I'm currently on the 5 day free drive away insurance but that runs out on Monday night.

When I try the insurance comparison sites or call the cheapest insurer directly, they don't recognise my plate nor have an option to select the Octavia 1.4TSI SE L 150PS :-(, which makes it difficult to arrange insurance.

Anyone else experienced similar issues? How did you work around this?

You could always try a broker instead of a rigid online form. Do you mean MY16?

yes, as per his post  MY16

Ah yes, post week 22 manufactured. With us it doesn't matter if the DVLA lookup hasn't caught up yet - we can just manually add vehicle details and quote the correct model.

Finally sorted after a lengthy process of manually adding the MY16 car to the insurer's system.

Hi,

Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. We have the facility to manually add and rate the vehicle for insurance purposes.

Regards,

Dan.

Crazy that DVLA's database has to catch up with what it should already know. Glad you got it sorted though. Is there a facility to manually add it on the comparison sites or did you go direct/through a broker in the end?

@ChrisknottIns, I did get in touch with your team and they were happy to price match (and beat) my cheapest quote but in the end I had to go with the other cheapest quote (which ended up being slightly more expensive in the end). Private message me and I'm happy to feed back why.

The other insurer got their underwriting dept. To add the car (exact model details) to their system so that the system could provide a quote against it.

FYI the insurers not having the card details is not the DVLA's fault as they publish updated details regularly enough, its that the insurers don't update their systems often enough (which I can imagine is no easy task).

Separately though, the DVLA also didn't have my car model details on their system to allow getting a registration for it. So that also took longer than expexted. Dunno who to blame for that... DVLA or Skoda UK.

Not just MY16 year related but just phoned up my insurance company (TESCO) to find out the difference in cost as the new car is nearly here, and arrange what information I need to give and the hand over period etc.

"Sorry we no longer insure that vehicle" (But you did when I placed the order!! As I got a quote before hand  Grrrrr)

So it's Win Win again for the insurance company and lose lose for me again!

Off to try and find another insurance company

Briskoda club insurance on 0800 819 9320?

I will give them a go. Elephant are willing to insure with a provisional driver at the same cost as my current insurance quoted. So not so bad at the moment.

Thanks for the number :)
