Who fancies helping me swap engines?

Featured Replies

:D

Whilst i am having engine issues I am thinking about as a "temporary" fix, installing a decent used PD130 ASZ complete long block in my car.  Found one 30 miles away from an Ibiza FR for £240.

The pain over a traditional engine swap is getting to a couple of those pesky bolts on the darkside tubular manifold (twice....)

Then thinking about fitting my DSSR 130% injectors in to that engine, so I would essentially have a totally decent stock engine (no head porting / big cam / big valves / forged rods) to run in the mongrel whilst the old engine is torn down. :)

Its a shame im so far away or i would would have helped out.

I think I will go to my mate's garage before he emigrates to France.  Just a shame he is going as its like my car's lifeline being ripped away. :(

Someone local to me has a pd130 engine for £50.

No turbo or injectors.

I see them on the Facebook group dubnortheast pretty much everyday for under £100.

Might be nothing but might help you out.

Well, a fairly well known full engine for £240 which is local, and also from a Seat Ibiza FR so should be a case of just dropping in.  In theory.

Sure, best sticking with a good engine with the least miles really.

A/C can be a chew on if you don't have the equipment to remove the gas properly.

Might be worth you removing the pump for weight and getting rid of the condenser for extra airflow if you haven't done that already anyway :)

What is a long block when it's at home?

Long block = complete engine basically

Short block is usually just bottom end. No head. :)

Aircon not an issue. That's long gone :D

i see, never heard that term before

I would help if said pd130 could then go into my polo dune when your done with it.

Engine swap party... everyone bring a tool:
