Air conditioning

Featured Replies

hi, I'm new to this forum so apologies if this has been asked before.

My aircon stopped working today and now I hear a rattle when I Rev the engine, could it be the compressor or pump that has gone?

I have a 2012 octavia 1.6tdi

Thanks for any help

Has the belt broken?

Sorry, not a clue. Where would I need to look?

Might be better off asking in the Octavia 2 section if it is a 2012 :)

The tensioner for the belt has a habit of seizing, and also the shafts on the compressors are designed to shear off if the compressor siezes.

Should be fairly easy for an aircon specialist to diagnose.

The other common problems are a leaking pressure sensor or a leaking condenser (gets hits by stones).

If you are near anyone with VCDS they will be able to scan the car and check the gas pressure and compressor rotation speed.
