Water Leak

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem, or can suggest any ideas to stop it.

Since i got my Octy RS in 2003 it has leaked water in above the rear headrest on the passenger side where there is a join in the plastic trim. After many trips to my dealer and days on end with the hose on the roof no one can find where the water is leaking in  . It had stopped for the last few months until two weeks ago when its rained nearly everyday where i live.

Since then i have had to put a basin on the parcel shelf to catch the water (that's how bad it is). I have stripped and checked everything, ie: the seal around the aerial, the boot seal, tightnes of boot lid etc etc and cannot see where the water is getting in. It has also been collecting under the CD changer in the boot, so is running from the roof down to the boot floor. I am so mad about it now i've totally run out of ideas. Can anyone help??? :(

Cheers

Estate or hatch?

Sorry, hatch.

I had the water under the cd changer. It turned out that it was coming from the rear wash pipe. There is a really rubbish connection behind the carpet were the cd changer is mounted. It is a black pipe. Check that. I know you said it only happens when its raining but i only use my wipers when its raining, occasionally have to squirt the windows hense the puddle in the boot. Not sure if this will help, but might be worth checking.

Not that, had that before. The pipe came off and filled the spare wheel well with water. Thanks anyway. The bulk of the water is dripping from the roof lining onto the rear headrest, i've put vasaline on the boot seal as i've heard that should work, but no still need a basin in the dam car to collect the water  . It could be a skoda extra, goldfish bowl

How does the seal look on the bottom of the aerial mast?

looks like it's sitting 99% perfect. It is fractionly raised at the back, but i don't think it's enough to leak. Maybe it is, i don't know. Is it easy to get to from the inside?

Do you have a sunroof?

No

Right, worth checking the aerial id say.

Pop off the rear most trim along the edge of the headlining and have a peek.

Righto, i'll do that tomorrow and see whats going on, if it ever stops raining. Thanks for your advice.
