Parking Sensor Display does not show on not OEM device - Octavia 1Z

Featured Replies

Hi there!

Some days ago I installed a RNS510 not original device in my Octavia 1Z pre-restyling (2007):

As you can see, is a kind of Cloumbus imitation...

My car has front and back park sensors, which I could see the range display on my old Stream radio.

I was told by the shop dealed that my new device will show the same display since the sensors are OEM original. But this does not happen.

Now he says it could be as it is not a "restyling" 1Z model.

But my question is, if I could see the park sensor range in the Stream radio (that means the system send this data), and the new not OEM device supports this function, why I cannot get this display?

It must be a way to get it on my screen, right?

The dealer told me it could be due to the CANBUS version, but still, I think it must be a way... does anyone know?

Thanks!

To get the columbus to show the parking sensors, you need to either upgrade to the newer OPS parking system as per the facelift cars, or fit a PolarFis box that can translate between the older system and the newer Columbus.

And even then it is not guaranteed with an aftermarket unit I would say.

I have been investigating a bit further, but couldn't find anything clear. It should be a way!

Best bet it to contact the device manufacturer directly, they should be able to tell you if it supports either PDC or OPS.

I didn't see either of these mentioned in the specifications on the page you provided so it might not support it. However this is with google translating the page...
