Hi guys, I have had a quick search and can't find anything relating directly to this, apologies if its already been asked. 

 

I have picked up a cheap Pioneer AVH-X5600BT stereo and all the necessary adaptors and cables. I plan to fit it at the weekend. It has USB as most modern stereos do but I wondered if the MDI port will still work once fitted?

Doubt it, its a proprietary vw system. I can't see them allowing third party connectivity unless it's one of the vw specific models.

Could well be wrong though!

I recently fitted an aftermarket head unit and my MDI is now redundant. It may be different with your head unit, but I doubt it.
