TwinChargers in the Heat

Featured Replies

In the UK it is 97 ron 'Super Unleaded' that is sold, at Esso, BP & Sainsburys,

you need to go to Tesco to get Momentum 99 which is 99 Octane,

and Shell stations for Shell V-Power Nitro+ (where it does not say 99 octane on the pump.)

they use the shell in the ferrari F1 cars though... there is a vid somewhere of them running it on the standard v-power nitro stuff and it runs perfectly..... so i would guess its at least 99 ;)

They say Pump Fuel, it is not the Pump Fuel you buy.

They say Pump Fuel, it is not the Pump Fuel you buy.

I know. but like I said, in this vid, they used the standard fuel we all buy :) just to prove it works. MIght have been riakonnen , said he couldnt tell a difference in performance.

its alonso, here

he said same maps. its an official shell advert , so I doubt he was lying, it would have been slammed and removed by the advertising standards agency.

So we know about the Octanes.

& that was back when it was 98 Ron in the UK,

no idea what the Stations where they are in Italy sells, maybe 100 ron, no idea. *they never said what it was, just that it was normal fuel you could buy.

But in the UK you could buy BP Ulitima 102 Octane at one time, in Pumps at Stations near Race Tracks.

Like near Knockhill.

But any way in the Video that was Shell V-Power.  not the later Shell V-Power Nitro +.

So we know about Octane & RON / MON & it is what it is.

What about detergents, do you need them, do you need to pay more for them.?

Not in the Racing Fuels they do not.

This is the same name.

Shell V-Power Nitro +

Have a look @ Italy,

& what they say about Shell V-Power near to the Cities, offer also rated at *100 ron*,

So nice,  "What is available at the Filling Stations"

Did the ASA have any argument with the facts, & did the viewing public understand, and did they even care.?

We had Shell V-Power Racing 100 here for a while. It was V-Power 98 with 5% ethanol to boost the octane rating. It was eventually withdrawn. My best guess would be because of a lack of sales.

Different World Regions and Fuel Grades.

Volkswagen Group being European you might have thought they could make clear the Recommended Fuels

and Octanes,

& when using the English Language made it clear what is Premium / Super / Super unleaded ect.

Pump fuel, eh? Hmmm. I can tell you from personal knowlege that one of the premier F1 teams had a specific fuel formulation for each circuit, incl test circuits. Each barrel of fuel had an FIA seal. These engines will work on retail pump fuel, as they can be mapped to do so...but the power output will vary over altitude, humidity, temperature etc. I presume that situation has not changed. If one of the top teams do this, can you imagine the others do not?

Pump fuel. Yes, it is deliveried via a pump.
