New brake pads time....

Featured Replies

Time to fit some new pads to the CB. I've got a set of Honda OEM pads (£95) for the front and back, brake cleaner, just need some copper slip, medium thread lock and some red rubber grease? Never heard of the latter so hoping halfords/euro car parts will have it.

All seems pretty straight forward so fingers crossed it'll go ok, I've allowed plenty of time to do it anyway.

Ive done this on all my previous bikes tbh. Its a nice easy job.

I did struggle to source red rubber grease at first but a little diy shop in a small town nearby sold me a little tube.

Just clean it all up nicely and be careful when pushing the pistons back in.

Really quite simple once youve looked at it for a mo.

Oh and obviously be really careful not to get any oil or grease on the friction part of the pads. Sounds silly, but its really easily done aha.

Well I've done it, was easier than I thought, no issues. Went to stick the back ones in and realised they had at least 50% left so havent bothered, just chucked the wheel back on. :D Service & changed pads, getting good at this stuff now lol

Was this the front?

Ive just taken the calipers off on the past. Maybe easier than taking the wheel off?

Even easier if they dont need doing! Haha

I changed the fronts, took the caliper off (2 bolts) and the pad pin (1 bolt) and they sprung out. Sprayed a bit of brake cleaner and give the pistons and caliper a bit of a scrub. Pushed pistons back in, put new pads in, pin back in and back on the bike. Left the front wheel on.

I took the back wheel off to do the rears as it's easier to get to, certainly for me because it's 4 nuts like a car wheel and off it comes. I dunno if I should keep the pads or see if I can get a refund, rears arnt likely to be needed for a while if they're half way now lol.

Yeah your rear set up will be the same as mine i guess.

Depends how long youre thinking of keeping the bike for, if youre planning on selling in the not so distant future you might aswel get a refund.. But if youre keeping it for years, youll need em eventually

Yeah fair point, might as well chuck them in the tool box. Sent my brother out to test them, if he came off it'd only ruin his joggers. :D
