MY16 vRS insurance question

Featured Replies

Another insurance question from me...I picked up my MY16 vrs TDI estate on Monday. I'm insured with ensure, so I called up to change the car over. Every time I have range for a quote they have given me a different price.

When I swapped on Monday, I gave the reg but they couldn't pull the details of the car as it had only just been registered. I have to give the details of the car manually.

My paper work came through yesterday and they have the car down as...

"Skoda octavia vrs TDI 1968" manual diesel.

My skoda paper work says "Skoda octavia est 2.0 TDI cr vrs"

Am I right in thinking they have selected the Mk1 vrs? Is there any difference in insurance group? They did charge me more than I expected to make the change.

The actual cc of the 184cr lump is 1968cc, so they have the right car.

Hi,

If you have no joy getting it sorted satisfactorily with you current insurer then please feel free to give us a try. We have the facility to manually enter and rate brand new vehicles that haven't yet appear on the relevant databases.

Regards,

Dan

If you have provided the correct registration, chassis number, year of manufacture then I don't see the issue. It is insured, correct engine size make and model. Sorted.

The model information will come from the DVLA database, with the information provided by Skoda. Your V5C logbook from the DVLA will list the model information at the top and I would wager that it mirrors the insurance model description.

I had a similar issue on an R-Design Volvo which just appeared as V50 sport.

It's a good job I'm not a gambling man. Just checked my V5C and the model appears as 'Octavia VRS TDI CR'.

That's the problem it doesn't match the v5...when I insured it, it wasn't in the dvla database because it had only just been registered.

I know the car is insured. I just want to know if they have charged me correctly if the different years have different insurance groups.
