Excessive oil use 1.8T petrol

Featured Replies

My Superb has started to use an alarming amount of oil which has gradually got worse over the last 15000 miles

Its now using about 0.5 ltr of oil every 300 miles.

Engine runs fine and pulls as well as has always done. No increase  in noise and no rattles.

No oil drips on driveway. It seems to be coming out the exhaust as the tips seem dirtier

Does anyone of problems with this engine or experienced high oil consumption

I had the 1.8TSi engine in my Octavia. It always used more oil than I thought it should (i.e. none!) and got progressively worse over the time I owned the car. By the time I part ex'd it I was getting about 2000 miles before the oil light would come on and that was mainly motorway cruising at about 65-70mph.

There was a feature on Watchdog a month or so back about Audis with the 1.4TSi engine using excessive amounts of oil but I'm of the opinion it's a problem for a variety of the TSi engines from around 2009~10.

Good luck in resolving your issue!
