Wynns diesel egr cleaner?

Featured Replies

I've got an engine management light on and a scan shows it to be the egr valve, the egr cleaner I've got says to remove the air filter and spray into the engine while it's idling, but will it be good enough to clear the build up of soot in the egr valve and save me taking it off to clean? Any help appreciated

Probably not.

It would have been better to use this stuff as a preventive measure before your EGR got clogged.

However you can always give it ago and if it don't work it might making cleaning the EGR easier anyway.

I don't mean to hijack your post, but would it be safe/ advised to use an EGR cleaner regularly given the reported failures?

I have a 2010 1.6TDI with 32k miles on it and was thinking of ordering this stuff as a preventative measure.

This product won't work. I tried it on my car and it did nothing. Better to remove your EGR, clean it by hand with carburettor cleaner and then re-fit.

If you ended up with the option of replacing EGR I have a system for sale. Unfortunately bought it of a member here without being 100% it will fit my engine and when I found out it is incorrect part he just stopped communicating assuring me it is the correct part. Anyway, part numbers: cooler 03L131512B, EGR 031L131501K (£120 posted). Message me if interested.
