The MAF is duff so I need a new one but can't unscrew it as the screws are unusual.

Using VCDS lite>>engine>>code 3>> at 3500RPM the actual air flow is 800 odd whereas the MAP measures 500 odd.

they are secured torx,is like a torx with a whole in the middle

Yep anti tamper torx.

you can get a set in most any hardware shop, used in many bits and pieces so worth getting

The whole thing is replaced, these screws typically, are not removed.

Screwing around on ebay for the whole assembly.

 

Got them both off after a fashion.
