New Car help pls

Featured Replies

Hi All

After a year of Mk1 ownership, and modifying the car to suit me (110 TDi running around 170bhp VRS lookalike) the engine gave way, and it was time for a replacement.

This 2005 Mk2 DSG came up for sale at a good price, but not without its faults, so i'll be using this thread to help me get it up to scratch.

Ive already replaced the drivers seat with an Audi S3 S-Line one - it was plug an play - however, i need help with the following:

1. Flywheel rattles when in N or P - can i fit a SMF?

2. Windows are squeaking - ive tried silicon spray, but issue persists - any ideas?

3. Been looking at the thread for HID's - which type do i need?  (Bi Xenon, Single Xenon?  What is with and without shutter?)

4.  Where is it best to get the feed for the switched 12v supply for the radio and also dimmer

5. I get whistling from the rear doors - how can i resolve this?

6. I need an armrest - is it easy to retro fit one from an elegance, or are there better options

7. How easy is it to retrofit fogs

Thanks in advance

Kaz

You can't fit an SMF to a DSG unfortunately.

Fit a set of non-canbus 35w Hids and code then in. There is a quite a big thread on the subject on here somewhere.

Best way to get a switched 12v is to run a piggy back fuse off the rear wiper fuse.

The car doesn't have a switched live to the radio like the older cars as it's all controlled through the canbus.

You could retrofit the jumbo box and rear air vents easily enough. I'll see if I can find the thread detailing how to do it.
