1.6fsi running issue

Featured Replies

I have an 08 Octavia 1.6fsi. When i drive the car at a constant speed, either in 2nd 3rd 4th or 5th i experience a very slight hesitation, probably not even that, its not a misfire or a miss, my mechanic called it 'fluffing' and he has no idea what to do, he says there are various things he could do, eg change throttle body, but he also says i could throw money at and still not solve it. It feels to me like there is either too much or too little of 'something', fuel or something. If you drop gear it doesnt eliminate it, theonly way to have a smooth ride is to accelerate or ease of on the throttle, its an annoying niggle, and before i do throw cash at maybe some of you more qualified could shine some light on it. I don't use supermarket fuel, and i have put injector cleaner through

The garage also said something about the ECU, not replacing it, but updating it as such.

He means a software update. This could be the problem.

Thanks. Is this an expensive thing to do? And a Skoda main dealer job?

Main dealer yes. Cost ..ask them for a price. I would imagine somewhere around half an hour to an hour labour time.

My 05 plate has done this since I bought it 3 years ago and it does not cause any issues.

I run it on Shell Fuel save and get an average mpg of between 38 to 42 mpg so I am more than happy with it.

No I do not drive it slow but I would say cautiously brisk.

I have looked on the VW forums, since its basically a Golf engine and there's quite a bit on there about what it possibly could be, all seem to centered around the throttle and various parts around it. However, on Friday eve i put 3 gallon of Asda fuel in it and its run without any issue. It cant be that simple, surely..?

One of those things, Don't worry, Enjoy.
