Number plate tape?

Featured Replies

Hi All

Just got some new nice clean number plates made up but do not really want to drill and fix like the originals, would rather stick them on, for the clean look.

Any pointers on good quality tape that sticks well?

Better still fit one of these!

Ideal, thought the obvious like Halfords may be pants but if you reckon its good then that's good enough for me :)

James Bond! They didn't really think that through with the tape on the Land Cruiser; you can still see the reg lol

I've used the halfords 'fixers' before, work well but make sure the car is super clean before sticking them on.

I bought this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009IQCET2 - for my plates a year ago. The plates are still in place with no signs of them working loose. I have them in the Briskoda plate holders which are screwed in place but as there is quite a bit of curve on the Yeti front I have some at the edges of the holders too. Excellent stuff and under £3 delivered for a 5m roll.

As long as both surfaces are really clean, it should be fine

Plates on my Accord are taped on. No issues at all.

Take your time though it's very easy to put them on squint.

When you need to take them off just use some tooth floss and clean up with wd40.

I used all manor of tape in the past which were ok but I had cause to stick a front plate on that had a slight curve, stuff I used before just kept coming unstuck.

This stuff though stuck it good and proper https://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/UniBond-No-More-Nails-on-a-Roll--Ultra-Strong/251217011?kpid=251217011&gclid=CPqU7M-q2MYCFfHJtAod3EoMSQ

It can be bought at B&Q or various similar outlets, maybe cheaper too.
