noisy ?aircon

Featured Replies

new issue with my 2007 vRS - if the aircon is on it sounds like a fan is grating with a constant whine from behind the dash. it disappears if i press the econ button - it is as though this disables whatever is generating the noise. not much cold air either - any ideas what the problem might be?

thanks

Could be low on gas. Get it to a garage and checked for leaks or topped up

If anything has gone wrong with the system, I'm told they should perform a full check after replacing anything, and if the compressor has failed, there's a chance of debris collecting in the receiver/dryer.  Chances are there's another leak or other fault somewhere in the system.  I had mine regassed because it didn't work at all, and it worked fine for a day, then worked OK but hissed the next day, then didn't work at all.  Although it passed a leak check, it had lost the gas.  Then the compressor seized, and I had the compressor replaced, and a follow-up test found the condenser was leaking, so I had the condenser/receiver/dryer assembly replaced, and it's all lovely now.
