Remap advise / mpg

Featured Replies

Hi, new to the forum and looking for advise from experienced fabia vrs owners. Planning on buying one very shortly.

- what mpg do these offer, round town, motorway run and average ? I have read a few threads but answers vary from ppl getting 30-40 odd mpg and other ppl claim to get 50-60mpg. Is 60mpg possible on these ?

- I've read up the shark remap seem to me most popular for these, but what does this offer exactly. Because I was hoping to find a remap that adds good power gains for when putting your foot down but also better then standard mpg when part throttle. Might be a bit optimistic of me but does such a remap exist, or is it a case of one or the other ?

- and finally would a stage one remap require an uprated clutch or would the standard one be sufficient ?

Sorry if these are answers asked before but I seem to be getting mixed results from other threads I have read from google searches.

Thanks in advance people.

Message faboka on here. He will tailor the map to suit your car, possibly keep the torque low so your stock clutch should be fine. 55-60mpg is easy to achieve on motorways etc. In and around town, I hit 40-45mpg. Perfectly happy with that.

Thanks for the reply, appreciated.

I have a shark remap on a standard clutch and DMF (Sachs). I have had the map on for 18 months I think now and I think it is great. I have recently had then both replaced (clutch & DMF) but not due to the map, the car has done 105k miles, had 5 owners and was just ready! Lol

I found the Fabia VRS a bit all and then nothing as stock but the remap has done a lovely job of spreading the power through the Rev range. That is however based on my personal driving experience as I've never had it rolling roaded.

I commute circa 150 miles a day in the car (mainly motorway) and fuel economy is brilliant post the map. On board computer never reports less than 60MPG at the end of each leg of my commute, in fact it regularly reports upwards of 70mpg as there is a 50mph speed restriction on between jn 19 and 15 (I commute between 24 and 14) which massively help on fuel economy even though it is pure torture!

Equally I don't find the car any less driveable around town or anything like that. And finally to add, it does bloody shift for a near on 10 year old car that is pretty much standard other than a remap.

Might be worth asking shark if they have any deals on an the STS as well as then you can switch between the standard map and shark map as you please.
