New pride and joy

Featured Replies

OK folks, the new pride and joy has arrived, an Octy VRS, and apparently there's lots of stuff out there that will save it from the trial and tribulations of life on the UK roads.

It's years since I had a brand new car and I would like to keep it looking good.

I've been quoted £250 for a Diamondbrite treatment.

Is this good value?

Is Diamondbrite the right stuff?

Is there better out there?

Any advice gratefully received.

TIA

£250 isn't good value for Diamond brite. It is a decent enough sealant but the claims of it's durability are over exagerated, and it is all dependant on who ap[plies it. The paintwork needs to be sergically clean to get the maximum durability.

If you want someone to apply it for you, speak to yur local professional detailer. £250 will get you some really good products applied. Obsidian detailing (Matt) is near you in Oldham and his knowledge is amazing, as are his write ups over on Detailing World. That is the best advice I can give you from that point. He will get you the right products that you are after, whether it be Gtechniq, ArtdeShine, Optimum etc etc.

If you want to do it yourself, and you're new to detailing, an easy to use wax would be a great first purchase. Just wash and apply your wax. My favourite durable wax is Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid, but I'll probably give one of the Bilt Hamber Waxes a go when that runs out.

Hope this helps buddy.

Totally agree with Hunty's comments above.

I'm hearing of maindealer quotes of £250-400 for these type products.

Hefty prices for what is generally a good product, slapped on, and minimal preparation and/or decontamination.

Speak with some local detailers for a price for a new car detail, or as Neil suggests..... get stuck in!

As already said..Dealer salesmen are on big commissions

Its only a sealant and is rarely applied properly..It doesnt cost much to buy

Look HERE

Id use that £250 for a professional detailer to work his magic on the paintwork

Unbelievable what **** Turpin, cough cough i mean dealers charge when Chris shows ya what it really cost. This gets my goat. I wonder how many they fool?

Many are fooled...Many
