Hi there does anyone know what's wrong with the car in the link . Mine has same noise . Had 2 new inner rods and ends . Ball joints . Wishbones , drop links . Bushes . Arb bushes . Could it be the rack itself ??

Regards Tony

My immediate thought was that it sounds like the inner rod joints inside the rack bellows but you said they've been changed?

Yes mate both inners changed as I thought that too .. These Fabias are funny old things . Anyone got one that is silent ?? Free from knocks and bangs

How many miles has the car done?

When did it pass the last MOT?

133k . And not was 2 weeks ago . No advisories

Sounds very much like the power steering pump running dry ?

That's going to be on the steering column looking at that, the knuckle worn or something.

Other than that the splines at the bottom of the column going into the rack.

The car wasn't running when I tried it ?? Only went left to right quickly . Could it be the pump dry when not running ,?? I thought rack .. How does the rack go onto the column ? Pinch bolt ??

I would check the steering fluid level, just in case

At the end of the steering column is a link piece with a universal joint at each end.  The one that connects to the pinion on the rack has a pinch bolt.

It would appear that the steering column, the link piece and the universal joint is one part.
